Stay at home proposal ideas

It feels as though everything worth looking forward to in life has been put on hold while the global pandemic takes over. Football matches have been cancelled, weddings postponed, and birthday celebrations resigned to small stay at home family gatherings.

Even the best laid plans have been turned on their head. For many couples, 2020 was the year they were finally going to take the next step in their relationship – starting with an engagement and followed shortly by marriage.

You may have planned a magical proposal framed by a European summer of adventure, or even a romantic candlelit dinner proposal. With flights cancelled and restaurants closed, it can be disheartening that your meticulous plans have disappeared before your very eyes.

Now more than ever, we need beautiful acts of love in our world. Don’t put your proposal on hold. Don’t wait for love.

If you were planning the perfect proposal and don’t want to wait any longer here are our best ideas for a #stayathome proposal.

1. Backyard Picnic

Go all out, compile all of their favorite snacks along with a few drinks and sprawl out across a sunny garden. For a night time twist, set up some fairy lights around the garden for an extra magical touch.

2. Candlelit Dinner

Cook up a storm and make your partner’s favorite meal from scratch. Light a few candles. Play some romantic background music. Consider it a done deal.

3. Projector Movie Under the Stars

A projector, some cozy blankets/ pillows, freshly cooked popcorn and a blank sheet is all you need for this innately romantic set up.

4. Wine and Cheese Tasting

Wineries closed? No problems! Grab a few bottles of wine and an assortment of cheese so you can set up your own in-house cellar door experience.

5. Spa Night

A face mask can solve any problem! We’re yet to be proven wrong on this one so whip out some cucumbers and massage oil and get pampering.

6. Backyard Stargazing

Throw some picnic rugs down, grab some wine and talk the night away with your one and only. Brush up on some astronomy or get a telescope if you want to impress.

7. Indoor Camp Out

Make a sheet tepee or a pillow fortress in your living room. This cheesy idea wouldn’t be complete with some marshmallow smores and some campfire stories.

8. YouTube Dance Lessons

Dancing in the kitchen has never seemed so appealing! YouTube is a wonderful place for picking up new skills so create a night to remember with the help of a virtual salsa class and some vino on the side.

9. Breakfast in Bed

We are thinking of the classic proposal clip from “About Time”. This tender and wholesome proposal scene still moistens the eye.

10. Recreate Your First Date at Home

Clearly your first date had some success, so why not recreate it at home. Whether your first date was going out for sushi or watching a movie, the personal touch will make for a memorable and special proposal.
